What is this template for?

This free timesheet template records a full working week, day by day, and works out the pay automatically. Fill in your hours, keep one rate for the week, and the totals update themselves as you type. Print it, sign it or send it straight to payroll.

Who should use it?

Contractors, agency workers and freelancers who bill by the hour. If you then need to bill those hours to a client, our contractor invoice template is the natural next step.

What is inside the template?

Contractor name and reference, client name, the week-ending date, one row per day from Monday to Sunday with hours worked, your hourly rate, automatic pay per day, total hours and total pay, plus a confirmation and approval line. Every field is editable: click it, type, then download.

Frequently asked questions

What should a timesheet include?

Who worked, for which client, the week the hours belong to, hours per day, the hourly rate and the resulting pay. This template has dedicated fields for all of them.

How do I calculate pay from hours?

Multiply total hours by your hourly rate. This template does it per day and for the week automatically, so 37.5 hours at £32.00 shows £1,200.00 with no calculator needed.

Should breaks be included in my hours?

Only count time you are actually working or that your contract says is billable. Unpaid lunch breaks stay off the timesheet unless your client agreement says otherwise.

How often should timesheets be submitted?

Weekly is the standard for contractors and agency staff, usually by Monday morning for the week just worked. Regular timesheets mean faster, dispute-free pay.

How do the downloads work?

Edit the preview first, then choose PDF, Word or Excel. PDF uses your browser’s print dialog (choose Save as PDF). Word and Excel download instantly as .doc and .xls files. Everything happens on your device: nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Not sure what rate to charge? Use the free hourly rate calculator to set a rate that covers your costs. Then bill the hours with the contractor invoice template or the freelancer invoice template.
