What is this template for?

This free payslip template gives employees a clear, professional breakdown of their pay: gross earnings, each deduction, and the net pay that lands in their bank. It is designed like a classic perforated payroll slip, compact enough to print or email.

Who should use it?

Small business owners and managers who run payroll in-house, and freelancers paying themselves a salary through a limited company. If you track hours for payroll, pair it with the timesheet template.

What is inside the template?

Employee details (name, employee number, tax code, NI number), pay period and pay date, an Earnings column, a Deductions column, automatic gross pay and total deductions, and a bold net-pay band. Edit any figure and every total recalculates.

Frequently asked questions

What must a UK payslip show?

An itemised pay statement must show gross pay, the amounts and purposes of deductions, and net pay. This template covers all three, plus the pay date and period.

What is the difference between gross and net pay?

Gross pay is everything earned before anything is taken off. Net pay, sometimes called take-home pay, is what is left after tax, National Insurance and other deductions.

Do I have to give employees a payslip?

Yes. UK workers are entitled to an itemised pay statement on or before their pay date. This template gives you a professional one in minutes.

Can I use this for a limited company director?

Yes. Many directors take a small salary through PAYE plus dividends. Use this template for the salary part and talk to your accountant about the dividend paperwork.

How do the downloads work?

Edit the preview first, then choose PDF, Word or Excel. PDF uses your browser’s print dialog (choose Save as PDF). Word and Excel download instantly as .doc and .xls files. Everything happens on your device: nothing is uploaded anywhere.
